【深志の春の花】

　正面玄関を入ると、綺麗に刈り込まれた庭が訪問客を迎えてくれます。緑豊かで、そこここ咲く季節の花も美しい校内ですが、実は職員が精魂込めて手入れをしています。

　今日は、学校内外の施設管理を長年担っていただいている校用技師の丸山さんにお話をお聞きしました。

（丸山さんのお話）

「山笑う」という季語から、緑に染まる山々が喜んでいる！　とても良い表現だと思います。　今年の入学式には、桜が満開で実に綺麗に咲き誇り、新入生の入学を喜んでいるようでした。

　本校も多くの緑に囲まれ、松本城からもイチョウの黄色の葉っぱが深志高校の目印だと、ご近所の方に聞いたことがあります。卒業生の方の中には、旧２棟２階窓から秋の果実を、手を伸ばし楽しんだ方もおられることでしょう。

　高木は手が掛けられませんが、イブキやサツキ、紫陽花などは頃を見て手入れをしています。イブキは刈り込み時にはとても良い匂いがしますが、刈込み鋏にヤニがべっとりつき、道具の手入れも必要になります。

　そんな時、木々の間から差し込む陽の光が疲れを忘れさせ、こんなに素晴らしいい光景をみんなで味わいたいと、つい思います。

　桜も同じです。満開の花を見て楽しみ喜びとなりますが、これからの季節は害虫が発生し、秋には大量の落ち葉処理、と大変ですが、綺麗な花のご褒美をいただいて、また来年も、と期待しつつ、落ち葉も堆肥にもなるしな…と考えながら、片付けに追われます。

　学生時代の同級生は障がい者施設に勤めており、時間が空いたらトイレ掃除をやっていることを聞いたことがあります。目に見えるものより、目に見えないものが大切だと気付かされます。

「ブルーライト」から校内の木々の緑に目を移し、ちょっとした時間で気分転換やら目に見えないものに想いを馳せることが出来たら良いな、と考え、日々環境整備に取り組んでいます。（丸山さん談）

　学校を訪れた方を気持ちよく迎えるとともに、生徒が気持ちよく学習に励むことができるよう、丸山さんをはじめ事務室の方々が、校舎内外を常に綺麗にしてくれています。時には、教科書から離れ、外に出て、お腹いっぱい新鮮な空気を吸い込んでみてはいかが。

   Our beautiful campus with trees and flowers in front warmly welcomes visitors.  Actually our janitors look after the yard.  Mr. Maruyama, who has taken care of the campus for a long time, gives me a story.

   “I like a seasonal term in haiku, “Yama-warau,” literally “Mountains laugh,” meaning the mountains are happy with the greenery in spring.  Cherry blossoms in the campus were in full bloom on the day of the entrance ceremony this year, seemingly delighted with the enrollment of the freshmen.

   “Our campus is full of green.  Some people in the neighborhood say that they can enjoy the autumn color of the leaves, which they say is the school’ symbol.  Some may have reached out from the windows of the old second building to pick the fruits of some trees during their school days long ago.

   “I cannot trim tall trees on campus, but take care of relatively short ones like Ibuki (Chinese juniper), azalea (rhododendron) and hydrangea at their best time.  Ibuki smells good when trimmed, but it has tar that makes me take time to clean scissors after work.

   The sun-light streaming from the trees while I am working makes me forget that I am tired, and wish I could share the beautiful sun-light with others.

   Cherry trees have a positive aspect and a negative aspect as well; you enjoy watching the blossoms in spring, but worms come to the trees in the summer, and a lot of fallen leaves from the trees should be put away in autumn.  While cleaning the fallen leaves I have come to think that I hope to see the blossoms next year again, and that the fallen leaves are of importance to fertilize the ground.

   “My old friend now works in an institution for the physically-challenged, and if time permits he cleans the toilets there, he once said.  His attitude gives me an insight into the view that what cannot be seen is more important than what can actually be seen.

   I take care of the yard every day, sometimes enjoying the greeney for a change, and sometimes dreaming of what cannot be seen.”

   All the staff members in the clerks’ office take care of the surroundings so as to welcome visitors, and to give the students an atmosphere where they can concentrate on their school work.  Why not go out of the classroom and inhale the fresh air in the campus?
