【縮小とんぼ祭のこと】

　本校の文化祭は「とんぼ祭」と呼ばれています。（とんぼの由来は別ベージをご覧あれ。）例年７月の初旬におこなわれ、一般公開では毎年多くの方にご来場いただいています。

　この「とんぼ祭」を小さくしたものを「縮小とんぼ祭」（略して「縮とん」）といい、こちらは例年４月中に行われています。今年も４月１６日（金）の午後の数時間と１７日（土）の午前中に、新型コロナウイルス感染症への感染予防対策をとって行われました。

　「縮小とんぼ祭」が４月にあるのは、卒業していった前年度の３年生から引き継いだクラブの活動の一端を発表する機会であると同時に、新入生が入りたいクラブを考える場にもなっているからです。

　１年生は、それぞれの教室で各クラブが作成したプロモーションビデオをみたり、校内のいろんなところで学芸部・運動部が活動や展示発表をしている場を、各自の興味・関心の趣くままみて回っていました。

　１年生43人が入部したという「地学会」会長の伴場くんに、縮小とんぼ祭を機に多くの新入生が入部した理由を寄せてもらいました。

　「地学会は３年生が１３人、２年生が４人と年々少なくなっており、１年生にはなるべく多く来てほしい状況でした。その為に、昨年のPR動画の一部を変更し興味を抱くようにしたり、階段や廊下に「天体ドーム開放中」と描いたポスターを貼り、実際に天体ドームを動かしたり、来てくれた人に軽く部活について説明しました。

　また、望遠鏡で撮った月の写真を見せることも行ったので、それが部員がたくさん入る理由になったかもしれません。

　人数が増え大きな部活になったので、これからはコロナ禍ではありますが、感染症対策を工夫しながら、観測や研修をやっていきたいと思います。」

　「縮とん」を経て、いろいろな部活動が校内所せましと行われています。いくつかの部を兼ねる生徒もいます。

　学習指導要領においては、部活動は生徒の自主的、自発的な参加により行われるもので、学校教育の一環として、教育課程との関連が図られるよう留意すること、となっています。様々な運営上の工夫をしつつ、充実した活動となるよう願っています。

   Our school festival is called the “Tombo-sai,” and is usually held in July, open to the public interested in the festival.

   The smaller version of the festival is also held in the beginning of the school year in spring.  The “Shukushou-tombo-sai,” literally the reduced-size festival, was held for two days: in the late afternoon of the 16th of April, and in the morning of the next day.

   This smaller festival is meant to be the time to show what each club has done since they took over the activities from the seniors, and also to give the first-year students opportunities to consider which club member they want to be.

   The freshmen gathered in their classroom to watch the promotional video of each club, and later walked around school to see the seniors show their activities and the things on display.

   Mr. Bamba, chairman of the “Chigaku-kai,” Earth Science Society, gave me the following comments about why the club has got as many as 43 first-years this year.

   “Our club was getting smaller in number with only 13 seniors and 4 sophomores, which was why we wanted a lot of newcomers.   We showed the freshmen the revised promotional video to attract them, put posters around school telling them that the star watching room would be open during the festival, and actually operated the  telescope, explaining the club activity.

   We also showed them the pictures of the moon we took through the telescope, which may have attracted many students.

   Since we are again a big club in number, we would like to observe stars through the  telescope utilizing on-the-job training, with every precaution against COVID-19.”

   According to the national course of study by Mombu-Kagaku-sho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology), extracurricular club activities are to be carried out through the independent and voluntary participation of students, and attention should be paid to ensuring the relevance of such activities to the curriculum as part of school education.

   Some students are members of more than one club.  We would like to do all kinds of things to make extracurricular activities satisfying and fulfilling to the students.
