【棋道部 囲碁班 全国準優勝のこと】

　棋道部囲碁班が、県大会を勝ち抜き、日本棋院で行われた第45回文部科学大臣杯 全国高校囲碁選手権大会 全国大会の男子団体で見事準優勝を収めました。

　新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大により、大会そのものの実施が危ぶまれましたが、帰県後はPCR検査を受け、結果判明まで自宅待機をする等厳しい条件の中、参加しました。

　本校棋道部は、将棋班、囲碁班、カルタ班に分かれて活動をしていますが、今回全国大会団体戦に出場したのは、囲碁班の「小野寺翔くん」「飯島靖之くん」（ともに３年）、「樋口郁くん」（１年）の３名です。

　全国大会は、４〜６校のリーグ戦による予選ブロックで１位通過した学校が決勝トーナメントに進める方式でした。生徒たちの目標は、予選ブロックで勝ち上がること（枠抜けという）でした。どちらが勝っても不思議がないくらい実力伯仲の試合ばかりでしたが、予選の３局に全勝できて、当初の目標であった「枠抜け」を果たし、無欲で決勝トーナメントに臨めたようです。

　上位８校による決勝リーグでは、最後に前橋高校に敗れたものの、試合中、主将の小野寺くんは「常に勝たなくてはいけない」という思いで臨み全戦全勝で切り抜け、副将の飯島くんは「主将が勝ってくれるので、いつものペースで楽な気持ちで試合に臨めた」と言っています。

　３人に囲碁の面白さを聞くと、

　「勝つ道を探る楽しさ、数学を解くのと同じような嬉しさがある。自由度が高く、試合に個性が表れるのがいい。相手とのやり取り、打ち終わった後の交流が面白い。」といった答えが返ってきました。

　３年生の二人は、「今後については未定だけれど、社会人になってからも人生の一つの趣味として続けていきたい」とのことです。

　顧問をお務めいただいている藤牧淳先生（外国語科）によると、ご自身が本校の高校生だったときに棋道部を立ち上げたとのことで、

　「これまで男子団体では県勢７位が最高位であり、準優勝は画期的でした。かつて六段格の生徒を３人揃えても枠抜けが難しかったこともあります。今回、最高の舞台で最高のパフォーマンスを見せてくれた彼らを誇りに思います」と生徒の活躍を讃えています。

   Our Go team won the runner-up prize in the 45th national go championship for high school students, held at Nihon Ki-in, a famous sanctuary of go, with severe restrictions regarding COVID-19.

   The team was made up of three members named Mr. Onodera Kakeru, Mr. Iijima Yasuyuki, and Mr. Higuchi Iku.

   In the first-round of the tournament they beat all the other three teams, and advanced to the final stage where eight teams were to play to decide a champion.  Their first goal was to advance to the final, since they knew it was the hardest to win all the games in the first round.  This was why they could play in a relaxed manner in the final tournament.

   They were finally defeated by the team from Maebashi Senior High School who won the championship.  While playing, Mr. Onodera always thought he had no choice but to win, and Mr. Iijima recalled that he played in a comfortable manner because he had a strong co-player.

   Asked what makes them interested in Go, they say that it attracts them when they think of the good ways to win, like solving a mathematics problem.  They also say that it has a lot of freedom and flexibility to put stones on the board, and the personality of the players can be seen in it.  They also think that the interaction with the opponent during and after the game is interesting.”

   Our students will want to continue to play go as a hobby in the future.

   Mr. Fujimaki Atsushi who long ago started the present club in his school days and now takes care of it says,

   “To win second place in the national tournament was epoch-making.  I once took a team of three top players to the tournament, and could not advance to the final stage.  So far, 7th place was the highest among Nagano high school teams.   I am proud that three of them did the greatest performance on the fabulous stage.”
